Changing a Nevion device IP address via serial
Posted by on 19 August 2013 03:47 PM
The IP address on a Nevion TVG/TNS/CP device can be changed on the web interface or via a serial connection. On older devices this is an RS232 connection, on newer devices it is serial over USB.

Access the terminal interface using a suitable terminal program, emulating an ANSI terminal, on your PC (e.g. HyperTerminal).

The USB will appear as a virtual COM port on your PC. No specific serial port settings are required.

  1. Type <enter> and see that you have a prompt (app>). Ensure scroll lock is not on.
  2. In the terminal, type the following command and press <Enter>:
    net ipconfig --ip <ip address> --mask <subnet mask> --gw <default gateway> --if <interface number>

  3. To view the IP settings type:
    net ipconfig
